Contemporary Gardine

Having recently purchased a property in need of a full renovation, our clients engaged us in designing a new garden inspired by their recent travels to Europe.

The design needed to incorporate the traditional style of the house yet feel modern, light and inviting. We combined the clean aesthetics of traditional crushed gravel patios edged with perennials, and rustic stone pathways with modern alignments to create individual spaces throughout the garden.

An offset entry path creates a sense of separation from a busy street and allows a view over a drought tolerant meadow from the front door. A cozy outdoor lounge joins two adjacent rooms via a raised deck, the pergola above creating the feel of an outdoor room.

Plantings melding traditional English styles and California natives complete this union of old and new.
